Our aim is to care and maintain Coatbridge Golf Course to a high standard in order to provide a quality facility for the enjoyment of golfers.
The Golf Course is maintained with a minimalist approach to the use of fertilisers and chemicals with the aim of reducing the risk to the environment. Where ever possible the use of recycled materials such as forestry chiping are used for resurfacing footpaths.
Throughout the Winter period the staff undertake a number of Course improvement projects, these include:
Planting trees in new and established wooded areas,
The sewing of wild flower strips in discrete locations throughout the course which helps to improve flora and fauna and diversity,
The establishment of a wild life corridor through extending the level of natural rough grass areas throughout selected locations of the course,
The building and Installation of a number of bird and bat boxes and charting their use,
An ongoing program of drainage improvements on selected fairways,
The renovation and construction of a number of Tee's
The thinning of Woodlands and Rhododendron eradication,
Upgrading of Footpaths/Access improvement,
All of these works are ongoing and play a part in North Lanarkshire Council's Biodiversity Action Plan to help maintain and enhance the Golf Courses conservation value.
